Double Fine Shows It's Next Game: Stacking

From the talented studio that brought you the ROQ and Roll inspired Brutal Legend comes the big reveal of their next game, simply titled Stacking. Hit the Jump to see some game play and screen shots of this unique looking game.

Heres the games plot as explained to us by Double Fine itself, "Stacking is a game about a young chimney sweep named Charlie Blackmore, and his quest to reunite his family after they’ve been forced into indentured servitude by an evil industrialist. Oh, and he happens to be a Russian Matryoshka, or Nesting Doll. Which is handy because Russian Nesting Dolls can do this:"
"Ta-da! They stack inside each other! The rules are simple: You can stack inside of any doll that is one size larger than you…"
The larger dolls you stack into have special abilities as well. For instance in the picture below you can see one of the powers of distraction is used to move a guard blocking a door.
If anything, this game has a style that only the minds of Brutal Legend art director Lee Petty and his crew at Double Fine could come up with. Watch Tim Schafer play through some of the train station level in the video below and see how he uses the abilities of each stacking doll.

Stacking is heading to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in Q2 of 2011. Heres looking forward to it!
