Hacker GeoHot Shows Us His PS3 Homebrew

Famed iphone hacker GeoHot has released a video of his custom firmware running on PlayStation 3. This doesn't do much but it does show that that tools are now out there and the Playstation 3 is truly wide open for hackers/pirates to tinker with. Hit the jump for the video.



An unfortunate side effect of the recent jail breaking of the PS3 is the risk of piracy. Though it has been written across the internet that this move was motivated by Sony removing the "Install Other OS" feature from their console, it seems that the Playstation had a fairly good run. 3 years of being impenetrable is a credit to Sony for building such a solid console in the first place. I guess it had to happen sooner or later right?
