Rumor: Will Windows 8 be at CES? The Times thinks so!

According to a blog at the New York Times Online, early rumors suggest that Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer might demo a tablet this week which features the new Windows 8 operating system designed for touch devices. To quote the blog "Another person with knowledge of Microsoft’s plans said Steve Ballmer might demonstrate a tablet and other companion devices running the next operating system, Windows 8."

Sounds like big news for Microsoft is leaking all over! Microsoft also plans to unveil other W7 tablets along the way, with slide out keypads, similar to that of the Galaxy Tab, by Samsung. This device would run in the typical way Windows 7 runs on the PC while in portrait mode, but when the under-mounted keyboard has slid out from it's hideaway, a custom UI will appear, designed just for this and similar upcoming devices.

Microsoft is hoping that their new line of tablets will be appealing to a market that is directed at business, for reading e-books, magazines, using MS Office and the like, rather than to use it for gaming as they suggest Android and iOS are directed to do.
