Ubi drops the constant ping during offline play on PC. Pirates rejoice!

DRM requirements for Ubisoft titles will now no longer require a constant internet connection to operate.

Historically, games like Assassin's Creed 2, Splinter Cell: Conviction and Settlers 7 have required a connection to such a degree, that if you were one of the unlucky few that may run on a poor Wi-Fi signal, every time you loose your connection, your game pauses automatically.  This is a step in the right direction from Ubi, as this type of DRM might be considered better for anti-piracy measures, but hasn't held back the onslaught of pirates absorbing the title, rather only frustrating the base of users who were shelling out the dollars to play Ubi titles on PC.

If you have an IP made by Ubi, and you were frustrated by this DRM protection, you might want to pop that bad-boy back in, because you have a patch waiting.  After this patch, DRM protection will only search for the internet once, upon startup, then let you go about your business fail-free.  It's nice to see Ubi making moves in the right direction again!
